"Highland Sakura" - A Burns Night Fusion Cocktail

Ingredients:

  1. 1 oz of a peaty Scottish Whisky (we like Laphroaig or Talisker)
  2. 1 oz of blended Scotch Whisky (The Sassenach by @sassenachspirits is perfect)
  3. 1 oz of high-quality Sake
  4. 1/2 oz of Yuzu juice (or lemon juice as an alternative)
  5. 1/2 oz of Honey Syrup (equal parts honey and water)
  6. A dash of Plum Bitters
  7. Ice cubes
  8. Sakura (Cherry Blossom) petals for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Chill the Glass: Place a cocktail glass in the freezer to chill.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a shaker, combine the Scottish Whisky, Sake, Yuzu juice, and Honey Syrup. The whisky brings a smoky depth, while the sake adds a smooth, rice wine flavor. Yuzu juice offers a tangy citrus kick, synonymous with Japanese cuisine.
  3. Add Ice and Shake: Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. This chilling process blends the flavors intricately.
